How does it work and rules ? The " identification request " rubric allows every registered member to propose items for their identification. Those ads ask for our registered member's wisdom. Once they have recognized the item proposed for identification, registered members have the opportunity to submit an identification request proposal. How it works is pretty straightforward : - With the help of an online form, a member advertises an identification request ad. This ad contains an item description and one or more picture of the item to be identified. - When a visitor has identified an item, he/she can directly add his/her answer to the identification request ad, and share his/her knowledge. Several answers are possible for the same identification request ad. Each identification request, as well as the proposed answers are viewable by all the website's users. After a specific amount of time, the identification requests, as well as the answers, are filed in a specific rubric. It will still be possible to view the ad, but not to propose any answers anymore. Advertising an ad is totally free of charges, but is reserved to registered members. Contrary to all other types of ads, an identification request ad can not be removed Nota : The rubric "items identification" is not meant for items commercial value estimates.

How to submit a free identification request ? In order to advertise, free of charges, an item identification request, please click on the link. You might do so on any page. The link is located on the left menu. ( If you have not identified yourself at this point, you will be asked to enter your pseudonym and your password. ) Second, click on the " submit a free identification request " link. Third, the form displayed on your screen will allow you to input the data needed for you item identification request. Item identification title : Please be as precise as possible when entering the title of your item identification request title. This will invite the visitors to look at your ad. You must fill out the title field. ( 60 characters maximum ) Item identification category : Please select the category that best fits the item to be identified. You must make a selection. Item identification description : The description is the core of your ad. This description will be the best help in the identification of your item. Do not hesitate to specify any details that might help in the identification ( history, markings, where found, etc... ). The limitation for this field is 800 characters. This field must be filled out. To help you evaluating the numbers of characters entered, you might click on the " see the amount of entered characters " button. Uploading pictures along with the form- Do not attach any pictures to the identification request : To submit your item identification pictures, please select the " Upload pictures as file attachments " option, and indicate in the three fields the name of the picture files. The pictures will be then automatically inserted in your ad. Nota: the picture size is limited to 50 Kb, and the picture format must be .jpg, .jpeg or .gif If you wish to not attach any pictures to your identification request, please select the "Do not attach any pictures to the identification request" option. Then, please, validate the form. A summary of your inputs will be displayed. You might still modify your inputs. If you are pleased with your inputs, you might then validate and advertise you item identification request in the "item identification" section.

How to answer an identification request ? Any visitor might submit an item identification request proposal. You need to be member to submit an item identification request proposal. In order to do so, please click on the " Propose an answer " link. This link is located on each item identification request. A form will allow you to enter your proposal (800 characters maximum).

How to read the identification request proposals for your identification request ? You might view all your item identification requests, as well as the proposed answers.
